Do you daydream about making things, be it a craft, landscaping project, movie, or a book? Have you ever wondered why, in your already busy life, you long to create something?
Here’s the reason: because you were made in God’s image. Obviously God loves to be creative. If not, we wouldn’t see such variety and abundance of life and beauty on earth…or in the sky…or under the sea or in outer space. And that same God who loves to create made you and me in His own image. So, dear reader, if you yearn to sing, write, design, or build, that is a gift from God and you shouldn’t feel guilty about setting aside time to be creative.
And every time you use your creativity to beautify, fortify, restore, or inspire, you can do it for His glory. So dream, my creative friends. Plan, bake, perform, paint – give someone a reason to smile, and thank God for the ability to do so.

Want to create something, but not sure what? Here are some ideas to use as a springboard:
-Write poetry on postcards
-Make music (Don’t play an instrument? Then write a song for somebody else to perform. And remember, “The woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those who sang best.” – Henry Van Dyke)
-Watercolor on blank cards to mail to grandparents
-Make up funny voices to go with a story and then read the story to young kids
-Woodburn a last name onto a wall hanging for a wedding present
-Sew a waterproof bag for wet swimsuits
-Learn leatherworking or metal stamping to give custom gifts
-Write comedy and work up the courage to perform a sketch
-Make a fairy garden
-Grow a few plants in containers
-Design and sew cute burp cloths to give to a new mom
-Refurbish a thrift store coffee table or bookshelf
-Print photographs you’ve taken and decorate a room, or make them into cards for a children’s hospital
-Learn to make candles or bath salts
-Write a novel! Sign up for my newsletter to receive writing tips once per month.
